The story of a city’s ramp: a map for people with disabilities in Azerbaijan

A city must meet the needs of people with disabilities. With this in mind, activist Muhammed Kekalov created a barrier-free, collaborative map for cities in Azerbaijan, starting with the capital Baku. Through the website Kekamaps.com, now anyone can complain to government agencies about buildings that do not meet their needs. Founders of the project, together with volunteers, walk around Baku step by step, marking places that hinder the movement of people with disabilities. The idea is that the website becomes a list of buildings through the whole country which are not in conformity with barrier-free regulations, so the public power can take action on it.
