Armenian Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan and Azerbaijani Presidential Foreign Policy Adviser Hikmet Hajiyev met in a meeting intermediated by United State officials at the White House.

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan wrote on his Twitter page that the discussions between the counterparts from Azerbaijan and Armenia were important in setting standards to prevent further violence, well as conducting purposeful negotiations within a certain period of time

Following the same line of thinking, the representative of the State Department, Ned Price, stated that the parts are interacting at several levels and through several channels to strengthen the de-escalation of tensions between the parties.

Price said that the meeting between Hajiyev and Grigoryan at the White House was held at the level of national security advisors.

US Secretary of State Blinken also held talks with the representatives from Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, called the meeting “effective” in an interview with “Voice of America” .

“We discussed the agenda related to the settlement of the Karabakh conflict, as well as the issues of establishing peace in the region. These are related to the opening of the block, delimitation, border security, as well as other issues that will bring stability and peace to the region,” Armen Grigoryan said.

According to him, Armenia and Azerbaijan are currently discussing four interrelated agendas – humanitarian, opening of the border, delimitation and demarcation, and issues related to the Karabakh region.

Hikmet Hajiyev thanked the American side for the meeting on his Twitter page:

“We appreciate Jake Sullivan’s efforts in organizing a meeting of Azerbaijani and Armenian delegations at the White House to discuss and promote an agenda of sustainable peace and stability in our region”, he wrote

After this tripartite meeting, the ceasefire was broken on the border again, with the Armenian army losing three soldiers, and one soldier of the Azerbaijani army injured.
