The meeting between President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and President of Russia Vladimir Putin held in Sochi on October 31 has ended.

Vladimir Putin, who made a statement after the meeting, said that the tripartite meeting with the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia lasted more than two hours. He also stated that he met with the delegations of both countries.

In his speech, the Russian president affirmed that the meeting was useful and that a good environment was created for possible future agreements.

“Today we agreed on a joint statement. It must be said frankly that not everything was agreed upon, some things had to be removed from the text previously developed at the level of experts. I agree with such a general assessment that the meeting was useful and conditions were created for taking further steps towards the regulation of the situation,” Putin said.

He thanked his colleagues and emphasized that such tripartite meetings will be continued in the future.

According to “Azertaj” information , Vladimir Putin said that the purpose of this meeting is to ensure the fulfillment of all agreements reached in 2020 and 2021:

“You have repeatedly mentioned that Russia played a significant and important role in settling the conflict. Currently, our peacekeeping contingent is fulfilling its mission as it should have been. Thank you for this assessment. Today, of course, it will be necessary to talk about the conditions that have arisen in today’s situation, to look for solutions to the issues that have not yet been resolved. It must be said clearly, not everything was agreed upon.”

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that now is the time to talk and act towards the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Aliyev told Putin that the Karabakh conflict has already remained in history:

“It was resolved two years ago. Therefore, from this point of view, there is practically no issue to be discussed here. The normalization of Azerbaijan-Armenia relations is, of course, a format that requires very serious steps.”
