Three Armenian and one Azerbaijani soldier killed in ceasefire violation on 11 January.

Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry accused Armenian forces of violating the ceasefire in a statement, while its Armenian counterpart said the deaths were a result of Azerbaijani provocation.

Fighting began at around noon according to Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry. Armenia’s Defense Ministry stated that the Azerbaijani side used artillery and unmanned aerial vehicles.

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov’s telephone conversation with US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried on 11 January also touched upon the ceasefire violation. Bayramov told Donfried that Azerbaijan has attempted to implement the trilateral agreement signed in 2020, and stated that, “the responsibility for this provocation lies directly with the Armenian military-political leadership”.

According to the ministries, serviceman Ayaz Nazarov from the Azerbaijani military and Private Artur Mkhitaryan, junior sergeant Rudik Garibyan and private Vahan Babayan from the Armenian military were the casualties of the fighting.
