Although the management of the hotel has changed hands, “Reges” still belongs to the Talibovs
After the unexpected resignation of Vasif Talibov, who ruled Nakhchivan in a repressive manner for 27 years, his sons Rza and Seymur Talibov transferred their companies and properties worth millions of dollars to other people. This has been reflected in previous OCCRP studies.
One of those companies is “REGES Turizm İnşaat Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim” registered in Izmir, Turkey. This company is the owner of the hotel and resort called ” Reges, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Çeşme”, which provides services in the luxury hotel category of “The Luxury Collection”, and belongs to the world-famous Marriott hotel group.
The company owned by the luxurious hotel located in the Chesme region was founded in 2014 by a person named Vugar Abbasov.
Vugar Abbasov is the president of Jahan Holding, one of the largest holdings in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The social media accounts of Rza and Seymur Talibov also show that Abbasov is close to his family.
At the same time, Abbasov created a bank in 2008 together with several members of the Talibov family. According to the documents of the Nakhchivan bank, he sold his shares to Baharkhanim and Seymur Talibov and left the company in March 2018.
In 2014, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Reges” was a person named Ibrahim Chalabi. Chalabi also works in the “Gamigaya” holding, known as the family company of the Talibovs for a long time.
The documents also show that in 2021 a person named Zamin Gadimov was appointed as the head of the company’s management board. In his statement to OCCRP, he admitted that the Talibovs perform managerial functions in family companies.
“Let me note that it is true that I worked in a managerial position in the companies of the aforementioned persons. “I do not have any business relationship with the persons in question,” he said.
After the publication of the study, Zamin Gadimov deleted all posts related to his travels to Turkey and Georgia on his Facebook social media account.
In January 2023, the company was transferred to the management of a Turkish citizen named Fatih Aydın. He is the chairman and shareholder of the company. At the same time, this person became the owner of “The Class Hotel Apartments” owned by Seymur Talibov in Dubai.
Unlike other changes, it becomes clear that the Reges company and the 5-star Reges hotel in the Çeşme area of Izmir, worth millions, are owned by the Talibov family.
