Former MP Nazim Baydemirli, who is currently under arrest, has been transferred to a medical facility of the Penitentiary Service, his wife, Farida Baydemirli, reported.
On March 26, Farida Baydemirli appealed to the head of the Penitentiary Service, Mirsaleh Seyidov, and the head of the Ministry of Justice Hospital, Jamil Kamilli, regarding her husband’s deteriorating condition. She stated that Nazim Baydemirli’s health had suddenly worsened and that he needed hospitalization.
This is not the first time that Nazim Baydemirli has experienced health problems.
Nazim Baydemirli, who served as a member of parliament for the Gadabay-Tovuz electoral district No. 104 from 2005 to 2010, has been in detention since July 4, 2023.
He has been charged under Articles 182.2.4 (extortion committed with the intent to obtain a significant amount of property) and 182.2.2 (repeated extortion) of the Criminal Code.
Nazim Baydemirli says he was arrested in connection with protests that took place in the village of Soyudlu in Gadabay.
On September 30, 2024, the court sentenced him to 8 years in prison.
