Investigation concluded that “Tofig Yagublu has beaten himself”
The prosecutor’s office finalized the investigation over Tofig Yagublu pictures, which were spread on social media showing him very hurt. It was concluded that no signs of torture were found in the images neither through physical examination.
According to the prosecutor’s office, police claimed that Tofig Yagublu injured himself after not agreeing to be detained by violating quarantine rules in place in Azerbaijan.
Tofig Yagublu was detained by police in Fountain Square on December 1 during a protest rally in Baku. He was found in Alat settlement, Garadagh district in the evening. Yagublu affirmed that he was taken away and tortured by police.
New Minister of Health is appointed by President Ilham Aliyev
Born in 1970 in Baku, Musayev studied at the Azerbaijan Medical Institute between 1987 and 1993. He has been working as the head of the Health Organization Department of the Ministry of Health since April 2020.
Before Temur Musayev, Ogtay Shiraliyev was the Minister of Health.
Mourning Day is celebrated in Azerbaijan
January 20 is marked as a day of mourning in Azerbaijan.
On the night of January 19, 1990, 134 people were killed when Soviet troops opened fire on civilians in Baku. According to official data, a 35,000-strong army corps was deployed in the capital.
The operation, prepared by the USSR Ministry of Defense, the Interior Ministry and the KGB, aimed to maintain the communist regime in Azerbaijan and stifle the national liberation movement.
For the remembrance of this tragic day in the history of Azerbaijan and to pay tribute to its victims, in 2010 a memorial was inaugurated in Baku.
