A year has passed since war broke out between Azerbaijan and Armenia over the Nagorno-Karabakh region. The 44-day long war, which began on 27 September 2020, resulted in large swaths of territory coming back under Azerbaijan’s control, with a small ethnically Armenian population remaining in the region and Russian peacekeepers being deployed.
