Erkin Gadirli has been released from his position as assembly president of Republican Alternative Movement (ReAL). The decision was made during ReAL’s Board of Directors meeting on May 12.
According to the movement’s official statement, Mr. Gadirli’s recent interviews and statements made on social media sites, as well as the serious errors committed in explanations given to those statements have played a crucial role in the decision. Despite the verbal warnings given in previous meetings, Mr. Gadirli has not attempted to correct his errors. Therefore, it has been proposed that Mr. Gadirli be discharged from his position as ReAL movement’s assembly president.
“Due to the fact that Ilgar Mammadov was unjustly imprisoned on a political order, he was unable to participate in Board meetings and vote castings. However, he has passed on his personal opinion on this issue to the members of the Board of Directors. Taking the opinion of Ilgar Mammadov into consideration as well, the Board has decided that Erkin Gadirli be released from his position as the assembly president, continue in his efforts as the member of the Board of Directors, with his right to vote at the Board meetings revoked, as well as his right to give interviews to the media in connection to the activities of the ReAL Movement suspended for three months,” read the statement.
ReAL Board of Directors expressed their deep regret for being forced to take such measures against Mr. Gadirli, one of the founders of the movement, and emphasized that no exceptions will be made for any of movement’s members acting in contrary to its collective identity, fundamental principles, and agenda-related documents.
