reports citing the State Customs Committee. In the first half of 2015, the country imported 17,640 vehicles compared to 34,359 units in the same period last year. This includes passenger cars, motor vehicles, and trucks. All three segments decreased in imports.

In 2014 Azerbaijan imported 63,368 vehicles compared to 104,385 units in 2013. Earlier in April 2014, Azerbaijan introduced the Euro-4 ecological standard, which forbids the import of cars from the EU manufactured prior to 2005, 2004 from the U.S., 2011 from China and Japan, 2006 from Korea, and 2009 from Turkey.

Prior to the Euro-4 introduction, the Azerbaijanis mainly imported old pre-owned cars that were lower in price but more harmful to the environment. At the same time, due to the devaluation of manat, prices for new cars increased significantly. Experts predict that a decline in prices in the car market of Azerbaijan will continue throughout the second half of the year.
