Today, on December 8, the Baku Court of Appeal reviewed the appeal filed against the arrest of Mammad Ibrahim, a member of the Presidium of the Azerbaijani Popular Front Party (APFP).

The court upheld the decision of the Khatai District Court.

Mammad Ibrahim was detained on the same day as the party chairman, Ali Karimli — on November 29. On December 1, a preventive detention measure of 2 months and 15 days was chosen for both of them.

They have been charged under the article alleging actions aimed at seizing power by force and forcibly changing the constitutional order of the state.

Pro-government media report that the arrests of the APFP chairman and the member of the party’s Presidium are connected to the criminal case under investigation by the State Security Service (SSS) involving Ramiz Mehdiyev, the former head of the Presidential Administration.
