{"id":339298,"date":"2025-12-18T15:48:00","date_gmt":"2025-12-18T11:48:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.meydan.tv\/article\/az%c9%99rbaycandan-erm%c9%99nistana-ilk-d%c9%99f%c9%99-yanacaq-gond%c9%99rildi\/"},"modified":"2025-12-18T21:15:35","modified_gmt":"2025-12-18T17:15:35","slug":"fuel-sent-from-azerbaijan-to-armenia-for-the-first-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.meydan.tv\/en\/article\/fuel-sent-from-azerbaijan-to-armenia-for-the-first-time\/","title":{"rendered":"Fuel sent from Azerbaijan to Armenia for the first time"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On December 18, 22 railway tankers filled with AI-95 gasoline were dispatched from Azerbaijan to Armenia by rail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/2025\/12\/18\/azerbaijan-begins-fuel-exports-to-armenia-by-rail-for-first-time-in-decades\">Euronews<\/a> writes that this is the first such fuel export in decades and is considered a concrete step toward the normalization of relations between the two countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A total of 1,210 tons of gasoline produced by SOCAR will be delivered to Armenia via the territory of Georgia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The agreement on fuel exports was reached on November 28 in Gabala between the deputy prime ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, Armenia imports more than 60 percent of its fuel from Russia, with the remainder coming from Iran, Romania, Malta, and Turkey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Georgia\u2019s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ekhokavkaza.com\/a\/kobahidze-besplatnyy-tranzit-azerbaydzhanskogo-topliva-v-armeniyu\/33616236.html\">instructed<\/a> that no fee be charged for the first fuel transit from Azerbaijan to Armenia through Georgian territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia began toward the end of the 1980s. In the early 1990s, Azerbaijan\u2019s Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts were occupied. As a result of the 44-day war in 2020 and a one-day military operation in 2023, Baku restored its sovereignty over all its territories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On August 8, 2025, officials of Azerbaijan and Armenia, who had been in conflict for more than 30 years, initialed the text of a peace agreement in Washington. In the initialed text, the parties recognize each other\u2019s territorial integrity and emphasize the withdrawal of mutual claims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the participation of the U.S. President, the parties also signed a statement on the outcomes of the meeting. According to the statement, unobstructed connectivity will be established between the main part of Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan through southern Armenia.
