Today, on September 16, the Khatai District Court held a hearing to extend the pre-trial detention of journalists arrested in connection with the \u201cMeydan TV case.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In separate proceedings, the detention of journalists Fatima Movlamli, Ulviyya Ali, and Shamshad Agha was extended by an additional 3 months<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On February 5, 2025, Shamshad Aghayev (Agha), editor-in-chief of the website \u201carqument.az\u201d and a journalist collaborating with Meydan TV, was detained in connection with a criminal case related to Meydan TV. On February 28, journalist Fatima Movlamli was also detained, followed by journalist Ulviyya Ali (Guliyeva) on May 7. Pre-trial detention measures were imposed against all of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They were initially charged under Article 206.3.2 of the Criminal Code (smuggling committed by a group acting in collusion).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On August 28, 2025, the charges in the Meydan TV case were intensified, and seven additional articles were added. The new charges were brought under the following provisions of the Criminal Code: Article 192.2.2 (illegal entrepreneurship involving substantial income), Article 192.2.3 (committed by an organized group), Article 193-1.3.1 (legalization of property obtained through criminal means), Article 193-1.3.2 (committed in significant amounts), Article 206.4 (smuggling committed by an organized group), Article 213.2.1 (tax evasion committed by an organized group), Article 320.1 (forgery of documents), and Article 320.2 (use of forged documents).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
