U.S. President Donald Trump, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a joint declaration at the White House.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First, U.S. President Donald Trump held a one-on-one meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Afterwards, Trump met with the President of Azerbaijan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After these individual meetings, the leaders of the United States, Azerbaijan, and Armenia gathered for a three-way discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, President Trump expressed strong confidence in achieving lasting peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy goal is to ensure peace and prosperity in the region.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Azerbaijan and Armenia have fought two wars over the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

The first Karabakh war occurred between 1988 and 1994.
The second took place in 2020 and ended with a ceasefire agreement brokered by Moscow.

In September 2023, following local military operations, Karabakh fully came under Azerbaijan's control.

Although a peace agreement draft was finalized in March 2025, it has not yet been signed.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe \u2018Trump Route\u2019 will connect the main part of Azerbaijan with Nakhchivan,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After the meeting, the leaders made statements to the press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President Ilham Aliyev stated that a strategic partnership between the U.S. and Azerbaijan is beginning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are truly opening a new historic page,\u201d Aliyev said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also mentioned that a charter on strategic partnership between Baku and Washington will be prepared within a few months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President Aliyev expressed his gratitude to Donald Trump for the repeal of Section 907 Amendment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Amendment 907 is a special provision added to the 1992 \"Freedom Support Act.\"

This provision prohibited Azerbaijan from receiving direct government assistance from the U.S. government.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
Trump inquired about the length of Aliyev\u2019s time in office, and after learning it was \u201c22 years,\u201d he commented:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat means he is tough and smart.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Yerevan and Baku are entering a fundamental stage in bilateral relations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are leaving the past behind and looking forward. This stage would not have been possible without President Trump\u2019s personal involvement,\u201d said the Armenian Prime Minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pashinyan also said that President Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, and they would support his nomination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President Ilham Aliyev proposed to jointly submit a letter with Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan to the Nobel Committee in support of President Trump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDonald Trump deserves this. He managed to conclude a long negotiation process in a short time. We can write a joint letter with the Prime Minister.\u201d Aliyev stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trump announced that the signed document includes granting the \u201cTrump Route\u201d, which connects mainland Azerbaijan with the Nakhchivan exclave, to the United States for 99 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also confirmed that the U.S. signed bilateral agreements with both countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Additionally, he noted that the 907th amendment imposed on Azerbaijan has been officially repealed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
