“Scheduling the court hearing for May 6 is essentially Ilham Aliyev’s death sentence for Tofig Yagublu.”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tofig Yagublu, a member of the Musavat Party and the National Council, who has been on a hunger strike for 24 days, has had his appeal court hearing scheduled for May 6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This information was shared<\/a> by Yagublu’s daughter, Nigar Hezi, on her Facebook page, citing lawyer Nemat Karimli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hearing will be presided over by Judge Zamin Ibrahimov.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“With each passing day, Tofig Yagublu’s condition becomes more critical. Today marks the 24th day of his hunger strike. A hunger strike of this length is a sign of impending death for 65-year-old Tofig Yagublu. His life is in constant danger, and we could lose him at any moment. Despite 24 days of hunger, he has not been transferred to a civilian hospital, nor is his doctor, Adil Geybulla, allowed to examine him regularly. Scheduling the court hearing for May 6 is essentially Ilham Aliyev’s death sentence for Tofig Yagublu. Ilham Aliyev and the entire Azerbaijani government bear responsibility for my father’s life,” said Nigar Hezi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tofig Yagublu was arrested on December 14, 2023. He is charged under the criminal codes; 178.3.2 (fraud causing large-scale damage), 320 (forgery, illegal preparation, sale, or use of official documents, state awards, seals, stamps, or forms), 320.1 (forging or illegally preparing official documents or state awards for use or sale), 320.2 (knowingly using forged documents as mentioned in article 320.1)
