Social activist Bakhtiyar Hajiyev was arrested on December 9.\u00a0In the Khatai District Court, a pretrial detention measure for 1 month and 20 days was chosen for him during the preliminary investigation period.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lawyer Agil Lajic said that he will file an appeal against the arrest decision of the court<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Social activist Bakhtiyar Hajiyev was brought to criminal responsibility<\/a>.\u00a0He has already been recognized as an accused person and was taken to the Khatai District Court to be remanded in custody during the investigation period.\u00a0His lawyer Agil Layj informed this to Meydan TV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bakhtiyar Hajiyev was charged with articles 221 (hooliganism) and 289 (contempt of court) of the Criminal Code.\u00a0The charges relates to the scandal between Hajiyev and Ulviyya Alovlu.\u00a0Hajiyev has been complaining to the police for a long time, demanding that Alovlu be brought to criminal responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some time ago, a video of what happened during the trial between Hajiyev and Alovlu in the Yasamal District Court was circulated on social networks.\u00a0In those images, Hajiyev throws documents in his hand onto a table.\u00a0It is claimed that the public activist is accused of hooliganism and contempt of court precisely because of this action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Baku City Police Department was investigating this case for a long time. Hajiyev repeatedly complained that the police did not investigate the matter objectively, and even tried to hold a protest in front of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the Ministry of Internal Affairs declared that his claims were groundless.\u00a0The Press Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs told Meydan TV that the detention of citizen Hajiyev is related to the criminal case initiated by the Baku City Chief Police Department under Articles 221 and 289 of the Criminal Code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hajiyev from is known to occasionally criticize Interior Minister Vilayat Eyvazov and the actions of the ministry on his social media accounts.\u00a0He says that in April 2022 he was kidnapped by a group of people in the center of the capital and subjected to violence.\u00a0Although a criminal case has been initiated, the perpetrators have not been found yet.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
