\n On April 11, a man brought to the Lankaran police station attacked a police officer, grabbed his service weapon and shot himself.\n<\/p>\n

\n According to the official version put forward by the Ministry of Internal Affairs press service, 43 year-old Fayil Huseynov, who was brought to the station for administrative procedures, asked a police officer for water at 3 a.m. When the policeman brought the water, Fayil Huseynov suddenly punched the officer, grabbed his pistol and shot himself.\n<\/p>\n

\n The Lankaran District Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office is investigating the incident.\n<\/p>\n

\n This is not the only such instance in Azerbaijan\u2019s police departments. Just days ago, on March 27, in the Goranboy District police department, Rashad Garayev killed himself while
\n
\n providing testimony
\n <\/a>
\n .\n<\/p>\n

\n According to a statement from the Ministry of Internal Affairs press service, Garayev\u2019s condition \u201csuddenly worsened, and he could not be saved, despite prompt medical assistance.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\n In Baku, on March 12, 2016, 30 year-old Zaur Sultanov died in the courtyard of the administrative building of the Khazar District Police Department.\n<\/p>\n

\n According to the
\n
\n version
\n <\/a>
\n from the Khazar District Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office, \u201cZaur Sultanov was summoned to the police department. While waiting in the courtyard of the department, he fell from a bench and died.\n<\/p>\n

\n During the course of the investigation it was also established that no sort of physical violence was used against Sultanov in the police department, and that the abrasions on his body came as a result of his fall\u201d.\n<\/p>\n

\n The greatest reaction came in response to the
\n
\n death
\n <\/a>
\n of 27 year-old Bahruz Hajiyev on August 20, 2015 in the city of Mingachevir at the police department.\n<\/p>\n

\n At that time, the Ministry of Internal Affairs press service distributed a statement that \u201cBahruz Hajiyev, who was being questioned by officers in one of the offices of the administrative building suddenly jumped from the window, as a result of which he died on the spot. No signs of violence were found on his body when an autopsy was conducted, with participation of close relatives.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\n This tragedy then poured over into massive acts of protest. Against the background of what had taken place in the city, dissatisfaction with the police grew and on August 22, after Bahruz Hajiyev\u2019s burial, hundreds of people came out to the central street of the city, where clashes took place with police squadrons. Special operations police detachments were brought in to Mingachevir, which is located 275 km west of Azerbaijan\u2019s capital.\n<\/p>\n
