\n First lady of Azerbaijan, president of the Heydar Aliyev fund and parliament deputy, Mehriban Aliyeva, appealed to Parliament with a request to adopt a new act of amnesty on the occasion of Republic Day, the 28th of May.\n<\/p>\n

\n According to Report, the proposition was announced by First Deputy Chairman of Parliament, Ziyafet Askerov.\n<\/p>\n

\n This is the First Lady\u2019s fourth appeal to parliament requesting amnesty for prisoners.\n<\/p>\n

\n Should the bill be passed, 3,500 prisoners will be granted amnesty.\n<\/p>\n

\n Mehriban Aliyeva\u2019s appeal will be examined at the next plenary sitting of Parliament, which will meet on the 20th of May.\n<\/p>\n

\n In democratic circles of Azerbaijan, some observers have noted that political prisoners and journalists such as Khadija Ismailova, Seymur Khazi and political leader Ilgar Mammadov may be affected by the bill.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
