\n Veli Alasgarov, former Minister of National Security of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, was arrested a few weeks ago,

\n Alasgarov is accused of embezzlement that allegedly took place during renovation works at the Ministry of National Security building in Nakhchivan. However, according to
\n
\n Turan
\n <\/a>
\n , Alasgarov\u2019s arrest may be due to his ties with former Minister of National Security Eldar Mahmudov.\n<\/p>\n

\n \u201cAll of Alasgarov\u2019s relatives have private vehicles with MNS license plates, starting with 009. Their license plates have been recalled,\u201d a source told Turan.\n<\/p>\n

\n was dismissed on October 17, 2015. Some of Mahmudov\u2019s managerial staff were arrested, and over 250 employees lost their jobs. The ministry was disbanded, and a criminal case was filed against it. The sculpture of Mahmudov\u2019s late father was taken down in Nakhchivan. A number of Mahmeudov\u2019s former aides were also arrested.\n<\/p>\n

\n Alasgarov is notorious for alleged involved in persecutions of rights activists. Specifically, he was accused of involvement in the murder of Turac Zeinalov, who died in August 2011. He was allegedly
