A hearing will be held on March 28. Aliyev may be freed on that day, Javadov suggested.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  On April 22, 2015, the Baku Grave Crimes Court sentenced<br \/>\n  <b><br \/>\n    Intigam Aliyev<br \/>\n  <\/b><br \/>\n  to seven and a half year imprisonment on charges of tax evasion, abuse of authority, illegal entrepreneurship, and appropriation. International rights groups<br \/>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amnestyusa.org\/sites\/default\/files\/uaa20014_2.pdf\"><br \/>\n    describe<br \/>\n  <\/a><br \/>\n  Aliyev as a prisoner of conscience, and charges against him as politically motivated. Aliyev\u2019s health severely deteriorated in jail. He reportedly suffered from violent headaches, loss of appetite and insomnia.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Aliyev was one of the first Azerbaijani lawyers to bring cases to the European Court of Human Rights and has also trained Azerbaijan\u2019s new generation of human rights lawyers.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  It is noteworthy that during Aliyev\u2019s trial, Prosecutor General Farid Nagiyev<br \/>\n  <a href=\"http:\/\/contact.az\/docs\/2016\/Social\/032400150674ru.htm#.VvYYE3oeqV4\"><br \/>\n    insisted<br \/>\n  <\/a><br \/>\n  on a tougher punishment and sought a sentence of 10 years.
