Azerbaijan. The court found violations of human rights in the case of\n<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.meydan.tv\/az\/27315\/\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27315\"\/><figcaption><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\n  Azerbaijani journalist Hakimeldostu Mehdiyev, including maltreatment and unlawful imprisonment by the Ministry of National Security (MNS) of Nakhchivan for his journalistic activities,<br \/>\n  <b><br \/>\n    <i><br \/>\n      <a href=\"http:\/\/contact.az\/docs\/2015\/Politics\/061800120069ru.htm#.VYMM8OuJnww\"><br \/>\n        contact.az<br \/>\n      <\/a><br \/>\n    <\/i><br \/>\n  <\/b><br \/>\n  reports.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  According to<br \/>\n  <i><br \/>\n    <b><br \/>\n      <a href=\"http:\/\/www.humanrightseurope.org\/2015\/06\/azerbaijan-tortured-journalist-awaits-court-ruling-on-human-rights-complaint\/\"><br \/>\n        Human Rights Europe<br \/>\n      <\/a><br \/>\n    <\/b><br \/>\n  <\/i><br \/>\n  , Mehdiyev published two articles criticizing the official economic and political policy in a newspaper in August and September 2007.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  According to Mehdiyev, he was approached by the head of the district department of the MNS, on 22 September 2007, who accused him of publishing defamatory articles and then ordered four men in uniform to arrest him,<br \/>\n  <i><br \/>\n    Human Rights Europe<br \/>\n  <\/i><br \/>\n  reported. Mehdiyev was taken to the premises of the MNS, where the head of the district department ordered several officials to explain to Mehdiyev \u201cthe meaning of his activity as a reporter.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  He was allegedly tortured; in particular, he was hit with truncheons and punched in the head,<br \/>\n  <i><br \/>\n    Human Rights Europe<br \/>\n  <\/i><br \/>\n  quoted him as saying.
