\n Yesterday, October 14, the European Court of Human rights made its final decision in the case of Ilgar Mammadov. A press release published earlier in May of this year, concluded there were several violations in the case of Mammadov including:\n<\/p>\n

\n – Violation of article 5 \u00a7 1 (right to liberty and security);\n<\/p>\n

\n – Violation of article 5 \u00a7 4 (right to judicial review of one’s detention);\n<\/p>\n

\n – Violation of article 6 \u00a7 2 (presumption of innocence);\n<\/p>\n

\n – Violation of article 18 (limitation on use of restrictions on rights).\n<\/p>\n

\n Following the announcement of the new decision, PACE President Anne Brasseur
\n
\n called
\n <\/a>
\n on the authorities to free him “without delay as well as to execute the Court’s judgement in his case, which has now become final”. Brasseur once again urged the government of Azerbaijan to address the systemic deficiencies of the country’s justice system and fully implement the standards and requirements of the European Convention of Human Rights.\n<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
