{"id":164122,"date":"2014-05-22T06:57:15","date_gmt":"2014-05-22T06:57:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.meydan.tv\/article\/azerbaijan-to-change-regulations-on-renouncing-and-obtaining-citizenship\/"},"modified":"2021-10-29T11:57:33","modified_gmt":"2021-10-29T07:57:33","slug":"azerbaijan-to-change-regulations-on-renouncing-and-obtaining-citizenship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.meydan.tv\/en\/article\/azerbaijan-to-change-regulations-on-renouncing-and-obtaining-citizenship\/","title":{"rendered":"Azerbaijan to Change Regulations on Renouncing and Obtaining Citizenship"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.meydan.tv\/az\/9767\/\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9767\"\/><figcaption><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.meydan.tv\/az\/9767\/\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9767\"\/><figcaption><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\n  According to APA, the changes to the law &#8220;On Citizenship,&#8221; in which citizens of Azerbaijan obtaining other citizenships, will be charged if fail to inform the authorities within a month, will be discussed in Milli Majlis (the Parliament) on May 30.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Among the amendments is the new annex No.4 to the article No. 5, which states that &#8220;the citizenship of the Azerbaijan Republic is determined and confirmed by the relevant executive authority.&#8221; The part No. 1 of article No.6, which listed birth certificate as one of the documents that verify citizenship of Azerbaijan, will be abolished. The proposed part No. 2 to the article No. 10 reads that \u201cif Azerbaijani citizen, who obtained foreign citizenship does not inform the relevant\u00a0 executive authority about it within a month, s\/he will bear responsibility in accordance with the Criminal Code.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  In addition, changes are proposed to the article No. 18 on forfeiting the citizenship of Azerbaijan:\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <i><br \/>\n    \u201cIn accordance with the Convention on Reduction of Statelessness of August 30, 1961 the following can serve as reasons for forfeiting the citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan:<br \/>\n  <\/i>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <i><br \/>\n    1) Citizen of Azerbaijan Republic voluntarily obtains citizenship of another country;<br \/>\n  <\/i>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <i><br \/>\n    2) Citizen of Azerbaijan Republic voluntarily serves at state bodies and municipalities, or armed forces and\/or another armed units of a foreign country;<br \/>\n  <\/i>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <i><br \/>\n    3) The behavior of the\u00a0Citizen of Azerbaijan Republic is\u00a0damaging to the state security;<br \/>\n  <\/i>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <i><br \/>\n    4) While acquiring the citizenship of the Azerbaijan Republic, a person has deliberately falsified the data necessary to acquire the citizenship, or submitted a falsified document.\u201d<br \/>\n  <\/i><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Citizens of Azerbaijan obtaining other citizenships will be charged if fail to inform the authorities within a month.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":11,"featured_media":9767,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_sitemap_exclude":false,"_sitemap_priority":"","_sitemap_frequency":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[37],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-164122","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","infinite-scroll-item","generate-columns","tablet-grid-50","mobile-grid-100","grid-parent","grid-33","no-featured-image-padding"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 -
