A new book from Moscow publishing house, “Political Encyclopedia” was recently released under the title, “Ilham Aliyev: Portrait of a President Against the Backdrop of Change”,
reported Azertac.
The author of the book is parliamentary member of the National Congerss of Azerbaijan and journalist Elmira Akhundova.
Elmira Akhundova has been a member of parliament since 2005. In 2003 she was awarded with the order of “Shohret” (Fame). In February of this year her name was mentioned in a
corruption scandal
involving 1.5 million dollars worth of real estate.
Published in an elegant if not flashy binding, the book clearly and convincingly, simply and accessibly and with an exaggerated sense of Ilham Aliyev’s accomplishments throughout his career, explains the phenomenon of Ilham Aliyev’s ascent to power and his success as president. The publisher notes that the questions the author addresses in her book are: “How do people become successful, influential? How do people becomes presidents? What does it mean to be a leader of one’s nation?”
One quote from the book stands out in particular:
“Despite the limitless respect for the memory of Heydar Aliyev, and despite the continuity of the political and economic course of the country, Ilham Aliyev was able in a rather short time period to come out of the shadow of his great father and prove, that he himself is an accomplished political figure. And one should respect him not only because he is the son of a great man, but because he himself is a bright and shining figure, the deeds and actions of which have proven his worthiness of the position of president of Azerbaijan.”
