Alikram Khurshudov, adviser to the head of opposition party Musavat, Arif Hajili, and member of the party’s Assembly, was arrested.
Musavat informed Meydan TV that a 30-day administrative arrest was issued against him on the charge of resisting the police.
Relatives of Khurshudov also confirmed the information. According to relatives, in the evening of July 26, he contacted his family by phone: “He told his father that he was sentenced to 30 days in prison. They took them to the administrative detention center located in Binagadi. He called from there”, his family informed.
Alikram Khurshudov was one of the organizers of the “Open the land borders” action held in front of the Cabinet of Ministers on July 20, idealized by activist Tofig Yagublu. Although he was detained during the protest, he was later released in the same day.
Musavat’s head Arif Hajili said that the police was looking for Khurshudov since July 25, for allegedly disobeying police orders during the action last week.
At least 42 people were detained during the “Open the land borders” protest. They were released after being taken to different police stations. Aziz Mamiyev, another member of the Musavat party, was the only of the detainees to be sentenced to administrative imprisonment in the day of the protest, after being found guilty of disobeying a legal request of the police.
